1974 October 1
This first meeting was organized and hosted by Dr. Bernard Watney and held at the Guinness Brewery, London, England. It was decreed at this meeting that the leader of the group is to be known as “Right.” Anyone would rather be Right than President. Brother Timothy was elected as the first Right of the ICCA. It was also decreed that there would be a Chaplain and a Chief Correspondent. Brother Tim was also elected Chaplain and Dr. Watney was elected Chief Correspondent.

Hosted by Francis Hutchinson at the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, Isle of Wight, England. Bob Nugent was elected Right, Francis Hutchinson – Chief Correspondent and Brother Tim – Chaplain. Richard Dennis presented a ceramic punch bowl decorated with corkscrews and a punch recipe book to the ICCA. Addict Dennis became the first “Master of the Punch.”
1984 October 26
Meeting held at Hotel de L’Univers, Tours, France. The existing officers were re-elected and Jeff Mattson was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts enjoyed a week tour of France organized by addict Watney which included visits to some of the great wineries of Bordeaux.
1985 August 30
Hosted by Heinz ten Doornkaat at Excelsior Hotel, Cologne, Germany. Perry Howland was elected Right, Evan Perry – Chief Correspondent, and Brother Tim – Chaplain. Francis Hutchinson was appointed honorary treasurer and Gianni Giachin was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts enjoyed a week adventure through Germany including the wine regions of the Rhine and Mosel Valleys.
1986 October 10
Hosted by Brother Timothy and Jack Preiss at the Sheraton Hotel, Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco, California. The existing officers were re-elected with the addition of Don Bull being appointed Editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. Francis Hutchinson was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts viewed Brother Tim’s collection at the Christian Brothers Winery and visited other wineries of Napa Valley.

Hutchinson and Bull were re-appointed and Mike Sharp was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts viewed the DeSanctis collection and visited Pisa, Florence, Siena, Perugia and Torgiano.

Hosted by the English members at Reform Club, Pallmall, London, England. David Bradshaw was elected Right, Don Minzenmayer -Chief Correspondent, and Brother Tim – Chaplain. Hutchinson and Bull were re-appointed and Maurizio Fantoni was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts viewed the Dennis, Miles, Hutchinson, Giachin and Burton collections and visited Bath, Somerset, Brighton and landmarks of London.
1990 October 30

Hutchinson was re-appointed as Honorary Treasurer and Joe Paradi was appointed editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. Joe Paradi was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts were hosted in Zurich, Switzerland by Hans Seleger where they viewed an Exhibition containing many addicts’ corkscrews prior to the trip over the Alps to Lucerne, Milan, Brescia and Venice.

Hosted by Don Bull at the Beekman Arms Inn, Rhinebeck, New York. Don Minzenmayer was elected Right, Don Bull – Chief Correspondent and Brother Tim – Chaplain. Hutchinson and Paradi were re-appointed and Jack Preiss was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts viewed the Bull collection and visited wineries and other points of interest in the Hudson Valley.

Hosted by Per Ekman and Bjorn Bendigtsen at Holmenkollen Hotel, Oslo, Norway. The existing officers were re-elected. Don Squair was “Master of the Punch.” Addicts viewed the Jan Ekman collection and visited Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Hosted by Ron MacLean and Joe Paradi at Westin Harbour Hotel, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Don Bull was elected Right, Ron MacLean – Chief Correspondent and Brother Tim – Chaplain. Existing honorary positions were re-appointed. Right Minzenmayer and Right To Be Bull were “Masters of the Double Right Punch.” Addicts viewed the MacLean, Paradi and Luchsinger collections and visited the Seagram’s Museum, Niagara Falls and other points of interest.

Addict Paradi continues as editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. Try-Right David Bradshaw became on honorary member. Bjorn Bendigsten was “Master of the Punch.” The trip included visits to Oporto, the Douro Valley, Sintra and Lisbon. Addicts were treated to a lunch at the Roque home with a viewing of corkscrews.
1995 August 13
Hosted by Fred Andrew, Michael Sharp and Jack Bandy in California.The Annual Meeting was held at the Red Lion Hotel in Bakersfield. The existing officers were re-elected. Addict Howard Luterman was appointed as Honorary Treasurer. Addict Paradi continues as editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. Bert Giulian was “Master of the Punch.” The trip included visits to The Huntington Library, Jet Propulsion Laboratories and the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena plus farmland and oilfields in Bakersfield. Attendees viewed the collections of Andrew, Bandy and Sharp as well as the largest displays of barscrews and Syroco corkscrews ever assembled.

Hosted by Xavier Garcia-Ruano in Barcelona, Spain. .The Annual Meeting was held at the Hotel Barcelo Sants in Barcelona. Ron MacLean was elected Right. Joseph C. Paradi was elected Chief Correspondent. Addict Howard Luterman was appointed as Honorary Treasurer. Addict Paradi continues as editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. Per Ekman was “Master of the Punch.” The trip included visits to Montserat, the Olympic Village, the Dali Museum, the Picasso Museum, Costa Brava and tours of the city with the Mayor’s wife. Attendees were treated to their own assemblage of three favorite corkscrews each on display in the hotel lobby for the entire week.

Alf Erickson was “Master of the Punch.” The trip included visits to Yves’ extraordinary Museum of Corkscrews and Winery in Menerbes, the Palais des Papes, Les Bories, Abbaye de Senanque, Roussillon and the flea market at L’Isle sur la Sorgue.

Bert Miles was “Master of the Punch.” The trip included various London sites including the antique markets at Bermondsey and Portobello Road.

Hosted by Bert Giulian and Howard Luterman in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The Annual Meeting was held at the Four Seasons Hotel. Joseph C. Paradi was elected Right. Helgir G. Solheim was elected Chief Correspondent. Addict Howard Luterman was appointed as Honorary Treasurer. Addict Ellis volunteered for the position editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. Wolfgang Handel was “Master of the Punch.” The trip included visits to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Hershey World, and the Mercer Museum. The highlights of the week were the viewing of the collections of addicts Giulian, Luterman, and Morway.
2000 September 16
Hosted by Wolfgang Händel in Eisenach, Germany with assistance from Klaus Pumpenmeier and Klaus Biermann. The Annual Meeting was held at the Hotel Wartburg. Helgir Solheim was elected Right. Wolfgang Händel was elected Chief Correspondent. Addict Howard Luterman was appointed as Honorary Treasurer. Addict Bandy volunteered for the position editor of the Bottle Scrue Times. John Morris was “Master of the Punch.” The trip started in Berlin with the Right’s reception in the “Le Tire Bouchon” bar of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with the balance of the week in the Eisenach area. Highlights included visits to the shop of Manfred Heckmann in Berlin, visits to the corkscrew manufacturers and museum in Steinbach-Hallenberg, and a visit to the Monopol corkscrew factory in Marburg. On the final day there was a superb exhibit of corkscrews by the Verein Korkenzieherfreunde including a large collection of Dreko corkscrews.
2001 November 7
Hosted by Ken & Marcia Hark in Miami Beach, Florida. The Annual Meeting was held at the Ocean Front Wyndham Miami Beach Resort. Helgir Solheim was elected Right. Wolfgang Händel was elected Chief Correspondent. Addict Howard Luterman was appointed as Honorary Treasurer. Jack Bandy continues as BST editor. Nick Hunt was “Master of the Punch.” Although the news media was hyping Hurricane Michelle, the addicts ignored the forecasts and had an enjoyable week including sips of Chateau Michelle Champagne!

Jack Bandy continues as BST editor.Howard Luterman was “Master of the Punch.” Highlights of the meeting included lunch at Chateau Morrisette, a visit to Bob Roger’s corkscrew (and more) museum, Omar at Safari Park, Natural Bridge, and the Roanoke Star.
2004
The 2004 meeting was hosted by Buster Berntson with Per and Christina Ekman in Stockholm, Sweden. A tour of the city was topped off by a visit to the Tekniska Museet where a special exhibit of corkscrew included Lindstrom’s 1870 patent and the patents of Hornum, Stallknecht and Sonnergren. Highlights of the trip included an exhibit of 585 corkscrews by members of Helix Scandinavica and a huge knife display from the collection of Arne Marmér at the Industrial Museum. Anne-Lise Köhler and Martin Jessen served the traditional punch. Bert Giulian was elected Right and Ferd Peters was elected Chief Correspondent. Right Händel retired with title Hand-Right.
2005
2005 the ICCA set sail for Alaska from Vancouver aboard the Coral Princess. The “ScrueCruise” was organized by Fred O’Leary and all corkscrew collectors were invited to join the ICCA for this adventure. Fred Kincaid enlisted the service of several addicts to make presentation during the voyage in the “Corkscrew University”. All addicts passed the courses and were presented with a “Certificate of Completion.” Klaus Bierman was the Punchmaster. The Right and Chief Correspondent were re-elected.
2006
In 2006 Nick Hunt brought addicts “down under” for a fabulous meeting in Sydney, Australia highlighted by addicts climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge, a night at the opera and a visit to Nick’s home to view his corkscrew collection. Bert Giulian was elected Right for a third term and Fred Kincaid was elected Chief Correspondent. Howard Luterman continues to handle the ICCA money as treasurer.
2007
This AGM was hosted by two former Rights, Wolfgang Händel (hosting the Vienna, Austria part) and Joe Paradi (hosting the Budapest, Hungary part). The meeting was convened in Vienna at the Hotel Kaiserin with the right’s reception. During the Vienna portion the addicts visited the Hofburg, the Spanish Riding Academy, the Grinzig Heuriger which has a substantial corkscrew collection, Schönbrunn castle ending at Schlosshotel Wilhelminenberg. There was an exhibition of Austrian corkscrews and a fine buy and sell event. We ate well also, wiener schnitzel, of course plus all the fine foods Austria is so famous for.
Next came the visit to Hungary. We took the historic Kaiser’s train from Vienna to Budapest. Upon arrival sightseeing included the Szécsényi bath, Vajdahunyad Castle, Hösök tere (Heroes Square), -had a coffee break in the Anonymous Café in the Castle. The evening saw a guided tour on a boat on the magnificent Danube river with a sumptuous dinner on board. Sightseeing on the following days included the Magnificent Hungarian Parliament buildings, the Bazilika (cathedral), the Folklore Museum, the grand Opera house, rode the first subway in continental Europe and had coffee and cake in the famous Gerbaud cafe. The king’s castle, the Citadella and one of the highlights, the Statue Park where the Communist era statues are displayed. The punch was served in the Belcanto Restaurant (punchmaster was Adolfo Roque). This restaurant is right next door to the Opera House; the waiters often sing opera here after serving the patrons, but we were also entertained by some excellent musicians and a special performance by several professional Opera singers.
2008
In 2008, the Annual General Meeting was held in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. Paul Luschsinger hosted a wonderful meeting where early American history was interspersed with corkscrew events. Bob “Blue Pig” Kimball was Master of the Punch, and Thomas Jefferson—portrayed by Bill Barker—was a special guest throughout the meeting
2009
In 2009, the ICCA made its way to London, where Wolfgang Handel hosted a wonderful meeting ,which gave Addicts the opportunity to go hunting for corkscrews on Portobello Road. Anne-Lise Kohler was Master of the Punch, and amongst many activities, including a trip to Stone Henge,, Addicts had the opportunity to participate in a special dedication to the Reverend Samuel Henshall at the Bow Church—where Rev. Henshall was a rector from 1802-1807 as well as view the Gianni Giachin corkscrew collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
2010
In 2010, Right Fred Kincaid hosted a wonderful meeting in Burlington Vermont. With fall foliage as the backdrop for the events, Addicts had the opportunity to see Fred Kincaids’s collection. Maurice Dancer was elected as The Right, and John Morris was elected Chief Correspondent. Josef L’Africain was Master of the Punch, and the gala dinner was held aboard Northern Lights on Lake Champlain.
2011
2011 had Addicts and Go-Withs enjoying the hospitality of Evangelos and Sonia Gerovassiliou. With Domaine Gerovassiliou wines flowing freely, all attendees enjoyed seeing his winery and corkscrew museum for the Gala where Hajo Turler was Master of the Punch. Thessaloniki and all that was included in our Greek adventure will go down in the annals of ICCA Folklore as legendary!
2012
The 2012 AGM was held in Chicago, and hosted by Josef & Sue L’Africain. With “Our” Kind of Town being the theme Addicts and Go-Withs enjoyed an Architectural Cruise, live blues music, a Chicago steak house dinner, and the Gala celebrated at the historic Drake hotel. John Morris was elected Right, Jens Arnsberg was elected Chief Correspondent, and Dick Clark served as Master of the Punch.
2013
The 2013 AGM was held in Antwerp, Belgium, and hosted by Guy & Hilde Vankerberhen and Ferd & Mariet Peters. Addicts and Go-Withs visited Guy’s wine shop to view his corkscrew collection and enjoyed the sights, sounds, and tastes of Antwerp and Brugges. Ian Hunter was the Master of the Punch.
2014
The 2014 AGM was held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and in Watkins Glen, NY. Addicts and Go-Withs. Hosted by Joe & Monika Paradi and John & Martha Morris, Addicts and Go-Withs enjoyed the falls, viewed wonderful corkscrews from Joe Paradi, Ron Maclean, and Ron Cutajar’s respective collections. Following a wonderful visit to Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake, the meeting moved to Dundee, NY at John and Martha’s charming cottage “Cherith.” This was followed by a Gala Dinner in Watkins Glen. Jens Arnbjerg was elected Right, and Barry Taylor was elected Chief Correspondent, who was also the Master of the Punch.
2015
The 2015 AGM was held in Logroño and Briones, Spain by Rafael and Ana Vivanco. Addicts and Go-Withs had the opportunity to view the Vivanco Cultura de Vino, which among many wine artifacts included an amazing collection of corkscrews. Attendees enjoyed many wines from Dinaista Vivanco, a Tapas crawl through Logrono, a trip to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim, with the gala dinner held at the Vivanco Winery. Bjorn Berger served as the Master of the Punch.
2016
The 2016 AGM was held in Nanaimo, British Columbia by Dave and Sue Dakers. Addicts and Go-withs enjoyed a tour of the wine country of Vancouver Island, had the opportunity to visit Dave and Sue’s home for lunch and a corkscrew viewing. Wining and dining took place overlooking the Strait of Georgia, and with John Morris presenting an update to Fred O’Leary’s 1996 tome on American Corkscrews, we welcomed Fred O’Leary back to the meetings after a several year hiatus. Tommy Campnell served as Master of the Punch. Barry Taylor was elected Right, and Ian Hunter was elected Chief Correspondent.
2017
The 2017 AGM was held in Mainz, Germany and hosted by Reinhold and Irene Berndt and Wolfgang Handel & Ursula Hess. Addicts and Go-Withs toured the Rhein via riverboat, visited Schloss Johannesburg, the Guttenberg Museum amongst many other adventures. Tom Lawrence served as Master of the Punch. Barry Taylor was re-elected Right, and Ian Hunter was re-elected Chief Correspondent.
2018
The 2018 AGM was held on the Midcoast of Maine and was hosted by Josef and Sue L’Africain. With the Samoset resort the locale, the meeting included schooner excursions in the Penobscot Bay, a visit to the island of Vinalhaven to see the L’Africain collection, and the gala held at Cellardoor Winery. Paul Luchsinger served as the Master of the Punch. Ian Hunter was elected Right, and Bjorn Berger was elected Chief Correspondent.
2019
In 2019, the Annual General Meeting was held in Lofoten, Noway and Addicts and Go-Withs enjoyed the hospitality of Bjorn Bendigsten, Ragnhild Bendigsten, Bjorn Berger, and Aud Irene Tunsjo. Addicts and Go-Withs toured Lofoten, and enjoyed the fjords and wonderous landscape. Fredrik Astrom was the Master of the Punch.
2020
In 2020, due to travel and safety restrictions, the AGM was held via ZOOM, and Addicts and Go-Withs across the globe ZOOMed in. Robert Leopardi served as Master of the Punch as Addicts and Go-withs mixed their own. Bjorn Berger was elected Right, and Josef L’Africain elected Chief Correspondent.

In 2022, due to the uncertainly of international travel and safety restrictions, the planning of an in-person Romania AGM was not possible and the AGM was held via ZOOM, and Addicts and Go-Withs across the globe ZOOMed in. Josef and Sue L’Africain served as Masters of the Punch in which Addicts and Go-withs mixed their own remotely. Josef L’Africain was elected Right, and Reinhold Berndt elected Chief Correspondent.
