Fritz Eckert in Steinbach applied for a
Korkenheber
patent on July 3, 1965. Patent 1,923,262 was granted
that year on September 9. Eckert incorporated a
protective open barrel around the needle. The barrel
has slots to grip the cork with thumb and finger to
slide it off the needle. Although it is a good idea for
guiding the ejector over the bottle, it would be difficult
to slide the cork off in such a manner.
A 1982 design (No. 82,155,549) by Max Kasperbauer
and Anna Spira for a
Flaschenkorkenheber
