Roger Field applied for German Patent No. 29,515,663
on September 30, 1995. The patent was granted
November 30, 1995
German patent 29,621,833 was issued to Christian
Mayert in Munich on March 27, 1997.
A very unusual German invention for pneumatic cork ejectors was proposed on April 4,
1963 by Tempo-Werk K. G., Bödigheim, Baden. The application pointed out that one
might have difficulty pushing a needle through a hard cork and if the cork is not solidly
fixed in place, the needle might push the cork into the bottle. They, therefore proposed
a corkscrew type needle which could be screwed through the cork and then air could
be injected with whatever type of pump system is used. Patent No. 1,879,057 was issued
September 5, 1963.
