In addition to the Canadian Registration, Bagwell-Purefoy registered the
trademark
“
Valezina
”
in Canada on April 12, 1950. The application indicated the
name had been used in the United Kingdom since 1947.
On October 5, 1950 Bagwell-Purefoy was granted German Registration
(D.R.G.M.) Number 1,614,301. His application was accompanied by a more
detailed drawing:
The earliest Valezina corkscrews are marked as on the left MADE IN
ENGLAND, PAT. PEND., REG. DESIGN No. 857,383 (English Registration of
1949). Later examples included the Canadian Reg. Design No. 112-17645 and
dropped the PAT. PEND.
