Japan
Haverhill's, a mail-order adult toy store in San Francisco, was a distributor for the Cork
Jet, a Japanese knock-off of the Swiss Corky. The major difference is the loop for the
middle finger grip on the handle.
Haverhill's was incorporated in California in 1966 by
Gerardo Joffe, author of
How You Too Can Make at Least
One Million (but Probably Much More) in the Mail-Order
Business
(1979). The company was dissolved in the early
1970s. Cork Jets sold by Haverhill's were imprinted
"Haverhill's Cork Jet." The instructions for a Cork Jet
without company name tell us "Do not use Cork Jet on
champegne or any oter 'bubbly'." [sic].
In a 1972
Gourmet
magazine
advertisement, Haverhill's
offered their $4.95 (catalog
price) Cork Jet for a mere
$2.00 - check or cash!
