Note the corkscrew in the top center of the Falconi collection photograph on the
previous page. At first glance, it appears to be a
“
Club
”
type but on closer
examination the reader will see that there is only one handle. The handle is
turned all the way down and the whole assembly is grasped to turn the worm
into the cork. The barrel then seats on the bottle neck and the cork can be
extracted by turning the single handle clockwise. Here are further examples:
