This plastic example is assembled like this:
1.
The handle and core (1) are molded as one piece.
2.
The handle and core are threaded into the barrel (2) from the top.
3.
The retaining ring / stopper (3) is forced onto the bottom of the core.
4.
The worm and shaft (4) are pushed up through the core.
5.
A grooved nut with rounded head (5) is threaded onto the shaft (4)
6.
The driving handle (6) is molded onto the nut (5).
The retaining ring (3) is marked MADE IN
ENGLAND. When I took apart (destroyed)
this corkscrew, I found the retaining ring
was upside down. The handle and core (1)
and the driving handle (6) were split apart
in order to show the exploded view.
