A modern example (left) was from
l'esprit & le vin of France. Early
Thomason pictured at right.
Thomason corkscrews were not
produced with a barrel of this design in
the 19th Century. This design of the
Thomason concept is from the French
firm
l'esprit & le vin
.
The English firm Wineware Racks &
Accessories uses this copy in their
advertising for this product: ―Corkscrew
Grand Crus. Antique Reproduction
Corkscrews have a traditional style
casing in solid pewter and brass with a grape and vine decoration. It is modeled on the
Thomason Mechanism which was patented in 1802 and is easier to use than many
modern corkscrews. Simply turn the handle in a clockwise direction to drive the screw
into the bottle neck and draw the cork. French made by L‘espirit & le vin.‖
