Garlock roots go back
to the 19th Century. On January 28, 1893 the firm applied for a trademark for its Piston-
Rod and Other Machinery Packing products. At the time the firm was operated by
Frederick Griffith, Olin Garlock (inventor of a packing for steam engines), and Eugene
Nichols in Palmyra, New York.
