Günther Pracht of Solingen, Germany applied for
a patent on his invention on February 13, 1976. He
claimed
A cork screw having a bell-shaped
housing and a cork-screw blade which is secured
at one of its ends to the closed end of the bell-
shaped housing, the cork being able to be lifted
out of the bottle neck without reversing the
turning direction of the cork-screw blade...

s corkscrew was manufactured by the
August Reutershan Company which was operating in Solingen since 1964.
