Legs with Matching Knives
The gay nineties legs are German patent 21718 issued to Steinfeld & Reimer
January 1, 1894. A 1910 Norvell-Shapleigh Hardware Company catalog calls the
legs
Ballet
and offers them at $14 per dozen.
The legs were produced in a great number of different colors and color schemes.
There are stripes from top to bottom and some have the stripes stopping just
above the knee with flesh tones at the top. There are also solid Mother-of-Pearl
and Ivory scale legs.
Finding a matched set with knife and corkscrew is difficult.
