Hotel Multomah
The grandest hotel in the Pacific Northwest was completed in 1912 by Philip
Gevurtz. The 700 room Multnomah Hotel was the center of social life in
Portland. The hotel was visited by royalty, U. S. presidents (everyone from
Theodore Roosevelt to Nixon), and stars (including Elvis!).
The Multnomah was closed in 1962 and converted to government offices. Today
it is home to the 276 room Embassy Suites Hotel.
