Cointreau
In Angers, France in 1849 Adolphe and Eduoard Cointreau created a beverage
that would survive many generations. Cointreau said
―
I
wanted to combine crystal clear purity with the subtlety of
tastes obtained from the perfect harmony of sweet and
bitter orange peels.
‖
Not only was Cointreau unique but the packaging was
also special. Cointreau packaged the beverage in an amber
square bottle still recognized worldwide today. Today the
Cointreau family produces over 13,000,000 bottles
annually and sells it in over 200 countries.
Cointreau is made using five different oranges - The
Bigarad from the Caribbean, Comuna, Cadamera, and
Salustiana from Spain, and the Pera from Brazil.
Cointreau is a crystal clear liquid which become
opalescent when chilled.
The familiar Cointreau bottle is the handle of this knife with corkscrew and cap
lifter. The steel knife is marked A. S. MADE IN FRANCE. A. S. is the mark of the
Birambeau company in Paris.
