Kisag Aktiengesellchaft was founded in Bellach, Solothurn,
Switzerland in 1946. Kisag was one of the first manufacturers
of aluminum steam cook pots, one of the many products made
for the catering trade. Like the English Sparklets line, Kisag also
offered gas cartridge operated soda siphons and cream
whippers. The firm is still active with 40 employees and
exports to over 60 countries. In the 1960s, Kisag applied for
three patents for gas cork injectors.
In their first application, dated March 31, 1962, a gas cartridge
was inserted in the "upside-down" position so that when the
operating lever was depressed, it pushed it down to open the
end with the top of the needle. A second design with patent
application dated April 9, 1962 was basically the same as the
first but the lever mechanism has been changed. A third design,
application of September 7, 1962, had the cartridge inserted in
the opposite direction and this time opened by a mechanism in
the top of the assembly. The lever reverts to the first design.
